This document provides basic installation instructions for the DIS-700G-28XS.

Safety Instructions
When a connector is removed during installation, testing, or servicing, or when an energized fiber is
broken, a risk of ocular exposure to optical energy that may be potentially hazardous occurs,
depending on the laser output power.
The primary hazards of exposure to laser radiation from an optical-fiber communication system are:
Damage to the eye by accidental exposure to a beam emitted by a laser source.
Damage to the eye from viewing a connector attached to a broken fiber or an energized fiber.

Rack Mounting
When mounting the switch, practice good safety habits. Relay rack mounting normally requires at least
two people.
1. Obtain the tools required for the mounting hardware.
2. Attach the mounting brackets to the switch using the screws in the accessory kit.
3. Place the switch in its relay location and secure it to the rack.

Ground Connecting
The DIS-700G-28XS must be properly grounded for optimum system performance.
Warning:
The middle grounding pin of the DC power terminal block has no function. The device
can only be grounded using the dedicated grounding screw.
Alarm Relay Connecting
The 24 V DC / 2 A alarm relay output contacts are located in a separate 2P terminal block. The alarm
relay contact is “Normal Open”, and will automatically close when a power failure is detected.
Power Connecting
DC Power Connection
The switch can be powered using two power supplies (input range 20 V – 57 V) through the 3P
terminal block for DC power. Insert the positive and negative wires into the V+ and V- contacts on the
terminal block and tighten the wire-clamp screws to prevent the wires from being loosened.
After completing chassis installation, please apply power to the fused power distribution panel feeding
the chassis.
Note:
The DC power should be connected to a properly-fused power supply.

Connecting to Fiber Interfaces (SFP / SFP+)
The DIS-700G-28XS provides both SFP and SFP+ interfaces. For 100 or 1000 Mbps fiber connections,
please use an LC style adapter. For 10 Gbps fiber connections, (ports 25 to 28 only) please use an
SFP+ LC style adapter.
These adapters are available with multimode, single mode, long-haul (for connections up to 120+ km)
or in the form of special-application transceivers.
DANGER:
Never attempt to view optical connectors that might be emitting laser energy.
Do not power up the laser product without connecting the laser to the optical fiber and
putting the cover in position, as laser outputs will emit infrared laser light at this point.
Console Connection
The console port is used for local management of the switch through a terminal emulator or a
computer running terminal emulation software with the following parameters.
DB9 connector connected to computer’s COM port
Baud rate: 115200bps
8 data bits, 1 stop bit
None Priority
None flow control
To connect the host PC to the console port, an RJ45-to-RS232 DB9 connector cable is required. The
RJ45 connector of the cable is connected to the CID port of DIS-700G-28XS while the DB9 connector
of the cable is connected to the COM port on the host PC. The pin assignment of the console cable is
shown below:

Connect & Log in to the DIS-700G-28XS
1. Connect to the console port on the DIS-700G-28XS.
2. Navigate to the switch’s default IP address: 10.90.90.90
3. Log in using the default user name and password.
User name: admin

CLI Initialization & Configuration (Optional)
1. Connect to the Console port on the DIS-700G-28XS.
2. Enter the command: telnet 10.90.90.90
3. Log in using the default user name and password.

4. Change the IP address using the commands listed below:

In the unlikely event that the switch is not responding or is experiencing problems, press the reset button to
reboot the system.
