To prevent accidental injury, the cord should be secured behind the appliance and not left exposed or
dangling.
The appliance should always be plugged into its own individual electrical outlet which has a voltage rating
that matches the rating label on the appliance. This provides the best performance and also prevents
overloading house wiring circuits that could cause a fire hazard from overheating. Never unplug the
appliance by pulling on the power cord. Always grip the plug firmly and pull straight out from the
receptacle. Repair or replace immediately all power cords that have become frayed or otherwise
damaged. Do not use a cord that shows cracks or abrasion damage along its length or at either end.
When moving the appliance, be careful not to damage the power cord.
EXTENSION CORD
Because of potential safety hazards under certain conditions, it is strongly recommended that you do not
use an extension cord with this appliance. However, if you must use an extension cord it is absolutely
necessary that it be a UL/CUL-Listed, 3-wire grounding type appliance extension cord having a grounding
type plug and outlet and that the electrical rating of the cord be 115 volts and at least 10 amperes.
OPERATING YOUR APPLIANCE
It is recommended you install the appliance in a place where the ambient temperature is between 72º and
78ºF (23º-26ºC). If the ambient temperature is above or below the recommended temperatures, the
performance of the unit may be affected. For example, placing your unit in extreme cold or hot conditions
may cause interior temperatures to fluctuate.
TURNING THE UNIT ON AND OFF
The red toggle switch below the door turns the unit on and off.
When the unit is first turned on, allow it to operate for about an hour to cool the interior before placing
items inside.
SETTING THE TEMPERATURE CONTROL
The interior temperature is set with the dial-type thermostat. When the unit is fully loaded, the
temperature will be kept between 32°F and 50°F (0°C 10°C) at the factory default setting of 4 to 5 on
the thermostat. Adjust as needed.
If the ambient temperature is extremely high or the unit has been too fully loaded, the interior temperature
will tend to be somewhat higher. In these cases, you could raise the setting of the thermostat to slightly
increase the interior temperature.
If the ambient temperature is unusually low or the unit is nearly empty, the interior temperature could
reach 32°F or below, in turn causing the evaporator to ice up. Under these circumstances, you should
lower the thermostat setting in order to raise the interior temperature.
NOTE: If the unit is unplugged, or power is lost or turned off, you must wait at least 5 minutes before
restarting the unit. If you attempt to restart before this time delay, the unit will not start.
DEFROSTING
Defrosting is performed automatically and drain water is collected in the drain tray at the back of the unit.
Water in the drain tray is normally evaporated automatically. Under humid conditions, a large amount of
water may accumulate in the drain tray, which may have to be emptied manually.
