Flushing the heat exchanger(errorcode LCor00). ge.com
-& WARNING: Beforeperforming this action,first remove power
to the water heater in order to prevent an accidental scald injury.
NOTE:GErecommends that this task be performed bg a trained serviceproviden
An "LC"or "00"error code indicatesthe unit isbeginning to have water hardness coat
the heat exchanger and must be flushed. Failureto flush the appliance will cause
damage to the heat exchanger.Damage caused bg water hardness isnot covered bg
the unit'swarrantg. After flushing,reset the LCfault codebg turning off the power to
the unit and turning the power back on.
E] Disconnectelectrical power to the water heaten
[] Closethe shut-off valveson both the hotwater and cold water lines(V3andV4).
I-_ Connectpump outlet hose (H1)to the cold water line at servicevalve V2.
[] Connectdrain hose(H3)to servicevalve V1.
[] Pourapproximatelg 4 gallonsof virgin, food-grade white vinegar or citric acid
into pail.
[] Placethe drain hose (H3)and the hose(H2)to the pump inletinto the cleaning
solution.
[] Openboth servicevalves(Vl and V2)on the hot water and cold water lines.
F] Operatethe pump and allow the cleaning solution to circulate through the water
heater for 45 minutes.
[] Turn off the pump.
[T_ Rinsethe cleaning solution from the water
heater bg:
a. removing the free end of the drain
hose(H3)from the pail,
b. closingservice valve V2and opening
shut-off valve V4(do not open shut-off
valve V3),

c. allowing water to flow through
the water heater for 5 minutes,

d. closing service valve Vl and opening
shut-off valve VS.
D Disconnectall hoses.
i_ Removethe in-line filter at the cold
water inlet and clean out ang residue.
5 gallon pail of
virgin,food grade
white vinegar {or
virgin,food grade
citric acid)
Placethe filter back into the unit. Seepage 7.
i_l Restoreelectrical power to the water
heater.
