Frigidaire FGHN2844LF3 Questions and Answers

#1 Can I adjust the shelves in my Multi-Door refrigerator to fit my spacing needs?

Most Multi-Door refrigerators are equipped with shelves that are supported at the back of the refrigerator.

To adjust your shelves, remove all items from shelf / shelves.

Lift the front edge up, pull the shelf out and replace the shelf by inserting the hooks at the rear of the shelf into the wall bracket.

Lower the shelf into the desired slot and lock into position Some models have glass shelves that slide out for easy access. The shelves slide out independently of their mounting brackets, just pull the front of the shelf forward. Shelves can be extended as far as the stopper will allow but are not removable from their mounting brackets.

Our door bins (vary by model) are removable for easy cleaning but some of them have fixed positions while others can be adjusted.

To change the position of an adjustable door bin simply remove all items from the bin, grip the bin firmly with both hands and lift it upward or side-to-side (depending on bin type). Next, remove the bin and place the bin just above the desired position.

Finally, lower the bin onto supports until it's locked in place and place bin liner into bin (if removed).

#2 What should I do if my ice maker is not making any ice in my refrigerator?

If your ice maker is not making any ice, make sure that the ice maker has not been inadvertently turned off. Also check the following:

1. Make sure that the refrigerator is connected to the water line and/or the water valve is open.
2. Check to see that the the water supply line is not kinked – sometimes this can happen if the refrigerator is pushed too far against the wall.

For models with a Water Filter, check the following:
1. Make sure the water filter is sealed properly – simply remove and re-install the water filter to double check. The water filter may be clogged or overdue for replacement.
2. If water is dispensing slowly or not at all, or your water filter is older than 6 months – it’s time to replace.

For models with a dual ice maker, check the following:
1. Check the ice maker in the freezer to ensure the wire signal arm is allowed to go in the up or down position. Sometimes an ice cube or other object may be preventing the signal arm from freely moving. Additionally, ensure the ice bin itself is pushed all the way to the rear of the shelf. If this comes slightly out of place, it may prevent the signal arm from dropping all the way down and producing ice as it should.
2. If your ice cubes are freezing together or clumping, you may experience this issue if your ice cubes are not used frequently or you have experienced an interruption of power for prolonged period of time. Feel free to discard the ice and allow a fresh supply to be produced. TIP: Ice production should be used at least twice a week to keep the cubes separated.
3. If your ice cubes are small or hollow this may be a result of your ice maker not getting enough water. This usually is due to the water filter being clogged or a restricted water supply. It is recommended to change the water filter first but if the condition still occurs then you want to check for a saddle valve, a water valve not turned on all the way or a kinked water supply line. Remember, smaller ice cubes or ice chips jamming in the ice maker may be a sign that your water filter needs changing.
4. As the water filter becomes older (6 months or more) it can become clogged with particles and less water is delivered to the ice maker. The ice maker can’t fill every cube in the ice maker mold, leading to small cubes or ice chips that can get caught between the ice ejector blades and the stripper.

#3 What should I do if the dispenser on my refrigerator is not dispensing water?

If your refrigerator is not dispensing water, simply check the following:

If your refrigerator display has been locked, it will not dispense water or ice. Press and hold the lock key on your display for 3 seconds to unlock.
Make sure the water filter is positioned properly – simply remove and re-install the water filter to double check.
The water filter may be clogged or overdue for replacement. If water is dispensing slowly or not at all, or your water filter is older than 6 months – it’s time to replace.

#4 Why does my refrigerator run most of the time? Is this normal?

Depending on the type of compressor your refrigerator has could impact how frequently it runs. It is normal for the compressor to go on and off frequently.

The thermostat keeps the refrigerator at a constant temperature. Single speed compressors (most Top-Freezer and Side-by-Side refrigerator models)

It is normal for the refrigerator to work longer when the room or outside weather is too warm or hot.If the refrigerator doors are opened too frequently or too long allows warm air to enter the product and therefore causes it to run more often.

Freezer temperature may be set too cold. It is recommended to set the refrigerator section to a warmer setting – this will adjust the freezer temperature.

Allow 24 hours for the temperature to stabilize.

Check the door seal/gasket. Air leaks in the door seal/gasket will cause the refrigerator to run longer in order to maintain desired temperatures.

Condenser may be dirty. See the Care and Cleaning section of your Owner’s Manual.

Variable speed compressor (most French-Door and Multi-Door refrigerator models). Your variable speed compressor is designed to run 100% of the time except during the defrost cycle. At times it may even run faster, such as after a defrost cycle.
