TO LOCK MITER TABLE
See Figure 39.
The miter table slidesto let the operatorslide the
workpiece across the saw. Amiter slide lock is
mounted on the front of the miter table to lock it in
place. The miter slide lock is placed in a sloton the
base to align the miter table with the front edge of the
saw table. The sliding miter table should be lockedfor
any cut in whichthe operatorprefers a fixed table.
To lock the miter table with the base proiectingto
the front, place miter slide lock in the back slot on
the base.
To lock the miter table withthe base projectingto
the back, place miter slide lock in the front slot on
the base.
C. MAKING CUTS
The blade provided with your saw is a high-quality
carbide tipped combination b_adesuitablefor ripping
and crosscut operations. Check with your Sears Retail
Store for other recommended blades.
,_. WARNING: All blades must be rated for at least
5,500 RPM to prevent possibleinjury.
TO MAKE A STRAIGHT CROSS CUT
See Figure 40.
It is recommended you make test cutson scrap wood.
_1, WARNING: Never use rip fence as cutoff gauge
when crosscutting.
,_, WARNING: Make sure the blade guard
assembly is installedand workingproperly to
avoid seriouspersonal injury.
Remove the rip fence by lifting the locking handle.
Set the blade to the correctdepth for the
workpiece.
Set the miter fence to 90 degrees with the quick-
stop or the miter scale.
Make sure the miter fence won't touchthe blade
while feeding the wood. Make a trialpass of the
miter table. The miterfence shouldnot contact the
blade. Loosen the adjustingclamp to move the
fence if needed.
Place a support (the same height as saw table)
behind the saw for the cut work. See Quick Fold
Table in Accessories on page 9.
Make sure the wood is clear of the blade before
turning on the saw.
Toturn saw On, lift switch cover and'press switch
button. Then lower switch cover.
