MODIFIED SINE WAVE

The output voltage waveform of the inverter is called “modied sine

wave�” It is a step waveform similar to household alternating current�

This type of waveform is applicable to most of the load, including

linear or switching power supply, transformer, electric motor etc� In

a modied sine wave, the voltage rises and falls abruptly, the phase

angle also changes abruptly, and it sits at 0 volts for some time before

changing its polarity�

Note: Modied sine wave inverters are not suitable for all electrical

appliances� Unusable appliances include some air-conditioning

fans with capacitance voltage-reducing circuits�
