REPLACE SPARK PLUG
Replace spark plug eachy ear to ensure the
engine starts easier andruns better. Set
spark plug gap at0.025 inch. Ignition timing is
fixed, nonad ustable.
1. Tw st,then pu off spark pug boot.
2. Remove spark I_ug from cylinder and dis-
card.
3. Replace with Champion RCJ-6Y spark
plug and tighten securely with a 3/4 inch
socket wrench.
4. Reinstall the spark plug boot.
REPLACE FUEL FILTER
Toreplace fuel filter, drain unit by running itdry
of fuel, then remove fuel cap/retainer assem-
bly from tank. Pull filter from tank andremove
it fromthe fuel line. Install new fuel filter onfuel
_ine;reinstall parts.

aWARNINL_: Perform the following
steps after each use:
Allow engine to cool, and secure the unit
before storing or transporting.
Store unit andfuel in a well ventilated area
where fuel vapors cannot reach sparks or
open flames from water heaters, electric
motors or switches, furnaces, etc.
Store unit with all guards in place. Position
unit so that any sharp object cannot acci-
dentally cause injury.
Store unit and fuel well out of the reach of
children.
SEASONAL STORAGE
Prepareunit for storage atend ofseason or if
it will not be used for 30 days or more.
Ifyour unit is to be stored for a pepod of time:
Clean the entire unit.
Store in a clean dry area.
Clean all parts and check for damage.
Have damaged parts repaired or replaced
by an authorized service dealer.
Keep all nuts, bolts, and screws tight.
: Lightly oil external metal surfaces, includ-
ing the blade.
To oil the blade, do the following:
Stop the engine and allow blade to come to
a complete stop.
Ensure ON/OFF switch is in theOFF posi-
tion.
Disconnect the spark plug wire.
: Apply a light machine oil along the edge of
the top strap as shown.

Under FUELING ENGINE in the OPERA*
TION section ofthis manual,see message la-
beled IMPORTANT regarding the use of ga-
sohol in your engine. Fuelstabilizer is an ac_
ceptabie alternative inminimizing theformation
offuel gum deposits dudngstcra_ga.Add stabi*
iizerto gasoline in fueltank orfuel storagacon-
tainer.Follow the mix instructions foundon sta-
bilizer container.Run engine atleast 5minutes
afteradding stabilizer.
ENGINE
Remove spark plug andpour 1teaspoon of
40:1,2*cycle engine oil (air cooted) through
the spark plug opening. Slowly pull the
starter rope 8 to 10 times to distribute oi1.
Replace spark plugwith newone ofrecom-
mended type and heat range (see RE*
PLACE SPARK PLUG section).
Clean air filter.
Check entire unit for loose screws, nuts,
and bolts. Replace any damaged, broken,
or worn parts.
At the beginning of the next season, use
only fresh fuel having theproper gasoline to
oil ratio.
OTHER
Do not store gasoline from one season to
another.
Reptace yourgasotine can if it atartstorust.
