downduringfreezingtemperatures.Todrainthetank,perform
thefollowingsteps:
1. Turnoffthegastothewaterheateratthemanualgas
shut-offvalve.
2. Openanearbyhotwaterfaucetuntilthewaterisnolonger
hot.
3. Closethecoldwaterinletvalve.
4. Connectahosetothedrainvalveandterminateittoan
adequatedrainorexternaltothebuilding.
5. Openthewaterheaterdrainvalveandallowallofthewater
todrainfromthetank.Flushthetankwithwaterasneeded
toremovesediment.
6. Closethedrainvalve,refillthetank,andrestarttheheater
asdirectedinthismanual.
Ifthewaterheaterisgoingtobeshutdownforanextended
period,thedrainvalveshouldbeleftopen.
IMPORTANT:Condensationmayoccurwhenrefillingthetank
andshouldnotbeconfusedwithatankleak.
