ENGINE
LUBRICATION
Use only high quality detergent o!1rated with API service
classification SG. Select the oil s SAE viscosity grade
according to yourexpected temperature.

NOTE: Although multi-viscosity oils (5W-30, 10W-30, etco)
improvestarting in cold weather, these multi-viscosity otis
will result in increased oil consumption when used above
32°F (0°C). Check your engine oil level more frequently to
avoid possible engine damage from runninglow on oil
Change the oil after the first two hours of operation and
every 25 hours thereafter or at leastonce a year ifthe tiller'
is not used for'25 hours in one year.
Check the crankcase oil level before starting the engine
and after' each five !5) hours of continuous use. Add SAE
30 motor oil or equivalent. Tighten oil filler plug securely
each time you check the oil level.
TO CHANGE ENGINE OIL (See Figs. 16 and 17)
Determine temperature range expected before oil change_
All oil must meet API service classification SG.
= Be sure tiller is on level surface.
= Oil will drain more freely when warm_
Catch oil in a suitable container,.
° Remove drain plug.
= Tip tiller forward to drain oil.
° After' oil has drained completely, replace oildrain plug
and tighten securely.
= Remove oil filler plug. Be careful not to allow dirt to
enter the engine..
Refill engine with oil. " See "CHECK ENGINE OIL
LEVEL in the Operation section of this manual.

Service aircleaner cartridgeeverytwenty-five hours, more
often ifengine is used in very dusty conditions°
. Loosenair cleaner screws, one on each sideof cover.
° Remove air cleaner cover.
= Carefully removeair cleaner cartridge.Be careful. Do
not allowdirtor debris to fall intocarburetor.
Clean by tappinggently on a flat surface.
ffvery dirty,replaceor washin a nonsudsingdetergent
and warmwatersolution° Rinsethoroughlywith water
flowing from mesh side until water is clear. Allow
cartridgeto standand air dry thoroughlybefore using.
° Clean and replace cover. Tighten screws securely.

CAUTION: Petroleum solvents, such
as kerosene, are not to beused to clean
cartridge. They may cause deteriora-
tion of the cartridge. Do not oil car-
tridge, Do not use pressurized air to
clean or dry cartridge.
