Installing Plastic Strapping
For installations in uncoupling membranes, plastic strapping not required - see Appendix B.
It is recommended to install cable strapping at 36" (91cm) intervals (See Figure 7 below) If required, it is
acceptable to have a distance of less than 36" (91cm) due to insucient space caused by obstacles
or walls

Figure 9
Verifying Resistance of Heating Cable and Sensor
Before proceeding with cable installation, measure
the resistance of the heating cable and sensor wire to
ensure that no damage has occurred (Figure 8).
Verify that the ohm reading is within -5% / +10% of
the factory listing appearing on the cold lead tag.
Verify that the reading for the sensor wire is between
7,000 and 14,000 ohms.
Verify that are there is no ground faults in the cable
(Figure 9). The ohmmeter will display either “I for
infinity or “OL for over load or open circuit.
Finish up your testing by conducting an insulation
resistance test (Figure 9). Set the tester at 500 V
(minimum) and measure the insulation resistance.
The resistance must be 10 Mega Ohms minimum.
