Caution
Do not try to repair your toaster yourself. Doing so invalidates the

Problem Possible cause Possible solution
Why is my toast not
toasted evenly?
The toaster may need to be
cleaned.
See “Cleaning and maintaining your toaster” on page 6.
Why is there an odor
coming from my
toaster?
This is normal. During
manufacturing, the toasting
elements can have dust that
needs to burn off before first
using your toaster.
Why won't the control
handle stay down on
my toaster?
Your toaster may not be
plugged into a working outlet.
The toaster must be plugged in and have power running to it
for the control handle to stay down. If you have checked the
power and the control handle will not stay down, please
contact a service center.
My toaster is not
working.
Your toaster may not be
plugged into a working outlet.
Make sure that your toaster is plugged in and that the outlet is
working.
Why is there smoke
coming out of the top?
If this is the first time using
your toaster, this is normal,
your elements are being
conditioned.
There may be a build up of
crumbs in the crumb tray, or a
piece of bread may be stuck in
the toaster.
Empty the crumb tray.
Unplug your toaster and remove the crumb tray. Then shake
your toaster over the sink to dislodge crumbs or small pieces of
bread that may be stuck.
