ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS
POWER SUPPLY CORD
1. Do not attempt to modify the power cord or plug in any way.
2. A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the risk of becoming entangled
in or tripping over a longer cord.
3. If the power supply cord is too short, do not use an extension cord. Have a
qualified electrician or serviceman install an outlet near the appliance.
NOTE: Neither Westinghouse nor the retailer can accept any liability for damage
to the product or personal injury resulting due to failure to observe the electrical
connection procedures.
INSTALLATION GUIDE
1. Carefully unpack your iron.
2. Carefully remove packaging around the iron and straighten the power cord. Do
not remove any warning labels.
3. Before using for the first time, remove any stickers or protective foil from the
soleplate. Clean the Cera-Silk® soleplate with a soft cloth. Avoid scratching the
soleplate with any sharp or abrasive objects.
4. Fill the water tank as described in the Filling the iron with water instructions on
page 5.
5. Connect the plug to mains supply and turn the temperature dial to ‘MAX’ setting.
The temperature indicator light indicates that the iron is heating up. Have the iron
stand up on its heel rest on a stable surface. Once the indicator light goes out, the
set temperature has been reached.
6. Move the steam control switch to ‘ON’ position – steam starts to come out of the
steam holes on the soleplate. You can now begin ironing. It is recommended to do
the first ironing e.g., on an old towel as there may be dust remaining in the tank
from the manufacturing process. Once the water tank runs empty and no more
steam is produced, the installation is complete.
7. The iron has been treated for protection during manufacturing and transport, and
as a result, the iron may emit vapours when switched on for the first time. This is
normal and should cease after a short while.
DANGER Do not under any circumstances immerse the iron, power cord or power
plug in water or any other liquid.
37. Any appliance that has been dropped or damaged should not be used until
examined by an authorized service center.
38. If the mains supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its
service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.
39. After ironing, allow the appliance to cool down for approximately 30 minutes on
its heel stand before handling or cleaning the appliance.
40. Allow the Iron to cool down and dry completely before moving it to storage.
