#1 Is it made in the UK, like my old one ?
It is made in China. In fact all Russell Hobbs kettles are now made in China. Shame this had to happen, as I noticed the lower quality of the newer models compared to an older model I had bought back in the early 90's that was made in England and lasted just over 20 years. When I bought a Russell Hobbs about 5 years ago - the handle came away from the body of the kettle, then I bought another one and the plastic part of the lid came away from the lid. That's when I checked to see where it was made. The only redeeming feature about this particular model is that the filter is welded into the base of the spout so no more plastic and less chance of a creature crawling into the kettle, but I don't know how long this kettle will last as well. But it is a real shame they are no longer manufactured in England - and they don't last as long as they used to. So I bought a Kitchenaid Kettle (triple the price), and very aesthetic to look at. I have this model of Russell Hobbs as a backup
