GE - General Electric GTE18GSHBRSS Questions and Answers

#1 Why do I get so much frost and ice formation on anything I have in my GE top freezer. The model number is GTE17DTNDRCC. The refrigerator is one year old. Higher settings don't help. Also I do not leave doors open very long. It has always done this.

We are so sorry to hear that you are experiencing this with your freezer. We are happy to provide guidance.

If the doors are opened frequently, left open, or even left slightly ajar, it would be normal to see a frost build-up on the shelves, packages, or walls. To resolve this issue, we recommend following the steps below:

- Remove any visible frost build-up with a dry towel.
- Check to ensure the doors close properly.
- Check the door gasket. If the gasket has cuts/tears/rips it needs to be replaced.
- Check door alignment. If the doors are uneven, refer to your Installation Instructions.
- Make sure the refrigerator is leveled properly. The doors should close on their own. Refer to your Installation Instructions.

We have provided a link below to the Use and Care Manual, and the Installation Instructions for this refrigerator start on page 10.
Thank you for reaching out to us with your question

#2 GTE18GSHSS Fridge (no ice maker): Trying to find the starting power usage to appropriately size alternate energy source? I know it's > 500 W. (Currently out of power and have an inverter rated to 500 W but with a big battery.) thanks

Thank you so much for reaching out and getting in contact with us. We apologize about the delayed response and hope it didn't cause to much inconvenience. We are happy to help out. You can always find the running amperage on the rating plate. This refrigerator has a wattage of 2300 and goes up to 3x higher when the unit first starts up.

Hope this helped a little!
