GE - General Electric JGBP35WEA7WW Questions and Answers

#1 How do I remove the stove gas dials in order to put childproof protectors on them? I have tried pulling them straight off, but it doesn't work.

We appreciate the excellent question and are happy to help.

If by "gas dials" you are referring to the cooktop control knobs, they can be pulled straight off the stem. If a knob is difficult to remove, place a towel or dishcloth between the knob and control panel and pull gently.

#2 longer cooking times in oven
I noticed lately that it is taking longer to bake in the oven. It sounds like the gas valve is pulsing at times. What could that mean? Is that normal?

Quick follow-up: Replacing the oven igniter did in fact fix the oven. It's back to heating up quickly, the oven doesn't pulse or whoosh any longer, and now the burners don't pulse when the oven is on. Taking things very slowly, it took less than 30 minutes (and $26 for the part).

#3 how much gas does it burn when using when using the self cleaning oven... for cleaning oven.... ?

Self-Cleaning Ovens help conserve energy since they are specially designed with an insulation system that means less electricity (than non-self cleaning ovens) is necessary during normal baking and roasting. In fact, enough energy is saved throughout a year's time to pay for the average energy costs used in automatically self cleaning the oven for that same period of time.

A GE electric self-cleaning oven will cost approximately 55 cents in energy for a 3-hour cycle based on the national average cost of .0804 cents per kwh.
A self-cleaning gas range costs about 15 cents in energy for the 3 hour cleaning cycle.
