Problem Possible Cause What To Do
Water won’t boil Cover pan with a lid. Turn the downdraft fan OFF until the
water begins to boil.
Burners have yellow
or yellow-tipped
flames
The combustion quality of burner
flames needs to be determined
visually.
Use the illustrations below to determine if your burner
flames are normal. If burner flames look like A, call for

yellow tipping on outer cones is normal.
Burner parts not replaced correctly. See Care and cleaning of the cooktop section.
Burners do not light Plug on cooktop is not completely
inserted in the electrical outlet.
Make sure electrical plug is plugged into a live, properly
grounded outlet.
Gas supply not connected or
turned on.
See the Installation Instructions section.
A fuse in your home may be blown
or the circuit breaker tripped.
Replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker.
Igniter orifice in burner body may
be clogged.
Remove the obstruction.

cleaning of the cooktop section.
Notch in burner head may be
clogged.
Use a small sewing needle or paper clip to unplug.
Sparking sound
persists after burner is

Be sure the knob is in the OFF
position.
Remove knob by pulling it straight off the stem and check
the bottom of the knob for any buildup of soil.
Occasional sparking
sound
Changing blower speed. This is a typical electrical switching noise. This is normal.
Burner flames very
large or yellow
Improper air to gas ratio. ,IFRRNWRSLVFRQQHFWHGWR/3JDVFRQWDFWWKHSHUVRQZKR
installed your cooktop or made the conversion.
Notch in burner head may be
clogged.
Use a small sewing needle or paper clip to unplug.
Burner flames make
excessive noise
Burner has not been used recently. A “cold” burner ignited in the HI setting may have some

Burner flames pulled
toward vent grille
Vent fan set at high speed. This is normal. If cooking performance is affected, change
to a lower fan speed setting.
