Toyota RAV4 Questions and Answers

#1 How do I start the engine using my Toyota remote engine
starter?

Press the LOCK button on the remote.
Press the LOCK button a second time within 1 second.
Press the LOCK button again, this time holding it for 3
seconds.
The engine will start.

#2 What warranty coverage do I have on my Toyota vehicle?

The factory coverage warranty period begins on the
vehicle’s in-service date, which is the first date the
vehicle is either delivered to the original purchaser,
lessor, or used as a company car or demonstration
vehicle.
Basic Coverage is 36 months/36,000 miles, whichever
occurs first, from the date of first use and covers all
components other than normal wear and maintenance
items. This warranty covers repairs and adjustments
needed to correct defects in materials or workmanship
or any part supplied by Toyota, subject to exceptions.
Powertrain Coverage is 60 months/60,000 miles,
whichever occurs first, from the date of first use and
includes engine, transmission/transaxle, front-wheel-
drive system and rear-wheel drive system.
Rust-Through Coverage is 60 months/unlimited miles,
from the date of first use regardless of mileage and
covers corrosion perforation of sheet metal.
Emissions Coverage varies under Federal and California
regulations. Refer to your Warranty and Maintenance
Guide booklet for complete details.

#3 How does the Tire Pressure Monitoring System work in my
vehicle?

If the Tire Pressure Monitor System senses seriously
low pressure in one of your tires, the low tire pressure
icon will appear in the instrument display and you'll see
a warning message in the Multi-Information Display.
If the indicator light stays on, check all the tires and
refill, repair or replace any that are below the proper
pressure.
Rotating tires, changing tire pressures, or switching tire
sizes could trigger the warning.
To reset the system, first make sure the tire pressures
are correct.
Turn the engine on, then press and hold the reset button.
You'll find it low and to the right of the steering wheel on
the instrument panel.
Hold the button down until the TPMS indicator light in
the instrument panel blinks slowly 3 three times.
Wait for several minutes with the engine running, to
allow the system to record each tire's pressure, then
turn the engine off.
If the light comes on and blinks when you start the car,
something may not be working properly, and you should
take it to a Toyota dealership to be inspected.
If you replace one of the original wheels or pressure
sensors, you'll need to have a Toyota dealership register
it.

#4 What does ToyotaCare roadside assistance include?

#5 How do I operate the cruise control in my vehicle?

To use Cruise Control, turn it on first by pressing the
button on the end of the control stalk behind the lower
right side of the steering wheel. The green cruise control
icon will appear in the instrument display to show the
system is ready.
Then accelerate to the speed you want, and press the
stalk down to set it. The SET indicator will appear
underneath the CRUISE CONTROL icon to let you know
you can take your foot off the accelerator.
If you need to increase your speed, lift and hold the stalk
up until you reach the speed you want, and then release
it.
To reduce the set speed, push the stalk down and hold it
to slow down to your target speed, and then release it.
To temporarily suspend cruise control, pull the stalk
towards you, or tap the brakes.
To resume the set speed, push the lever up briefly.
