Control Panel Overview
The control panel is located on the front of the toaster.
- Browning Control Dial: Turn to select browning level 1 (lightest) to 6 (darkest).
- LCD Display: Shows the selected browning level for 4 seconds after lowering the lever, then switches to a countdown timer.
- Function Buttons:
- BAGEL: Toasts the cut side of the bagel while warming the outer side. The button light will illuminate when active.
- DEFROST: Use for toasting bread that has been refrigerated or frozen.
- REHEAT: Warms already toasted bread for 30 seconds.
- CANCEL: Stops the toasting cycle immediately and raises the bread. If this button is stuck, the lever will not stay down.
- Lever: Press down to lower bread into the slots and begin the toasting cycle.
Basic Toasting Instructions
- Plug in the toaster to a standard 120V outlet.
- Select Browning Level: Turn the dial to your desired setting (1-6).
- Select Function (Optional): Press the BAGEL, DEFROST, or REHEAT button if needed. The corresponding light will turn on.
- Insert Bread: Place bread slices into the slots. For even toasting, center the bread in the slots.
- Start Toasting: Press the lever down until it clicks and locks. The LCD will display the browning level, then a countdown timer.
- Completion: When the cycle finishes, the bread will pop up automatically. You may also press the CANCEL button to stop the cycle early.
- Remove Bread: Use caution as the bread and slots will be hot. The toaster is designed to pop bread up to a height that allows for easy removal.
Note: For best and most even results, toast bread in pairs. Toasting a single slice may cause uneven browning.
Using the Warming Rack
- Press down the lever located on the back of the toaster to raise the stainless steel warming rack.
- Place irregularly shaped items like croissants or thick pastries on the rack.
- Select a browning level and press the main lever to begin warming.
Cleaning and Maintenance
- Unplug the toaster and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Exterior: Wipe with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
- Crumb Tray: Regularly remove crumbs by pushing the tray on the back of the toaster to slide it out. Empty and wipe clean, then slide back into place.
- Slots: Do not insert any objects into the toasting slots. Crumbs should fall into the removable tray. If necessary, turn the toaster upside down over a trash can and gently shake to dislodge loose crumbs (ensure the toaster is cool and unplugged first).
- Never immerse the toaster, cord, or plug in water or any other liquid.
Troubleshooting
- Bread burns even on low setting: Ensure you are toasting bread in pairs for even heat distribution. Toasting a single slice can cause burning.
- CANCEL button light is on and lever won't stay down: The CANCEL button may be stuck. Gently restore the button to its normal position.
- Toaster only toasts one side of bread: Check if the BAGEL mode is accidentally activated. The BAGEL button light will be on if active. Press the button to deactivate it.
- Breads toast unevenly with two slices: Place bread slices in the center of the slots, not pushed to one side.
- Bread from refrigerator doesn't toast well: Use the DEFROST function for refrigerated or frozen bread.
- Toaster does not heat: Verify the unit is plugged into a working outlet. Ensure the CANCEL button is not stuck (see above).
