Frigidaire GLHT214THW Questions and Answers

#1 How can I avoid “freezing” in my crisper drawers?

If you are experiencing freezing in your crisper drawers, you may want to keep in mind that air from the freezer moving to the fresh food compartment through the damper could result in freezing temperatures in the crisper drawers if the unit has not be in use for an extended period of time.
Once the refrigerator is used more frequently, this issue should resolve itself. If not, slightly increase the humidity setting.

#2 What does Smudge-Proof™ mean?

Frigidaire Smudge-Proof™ stainless steel features a proprietary protective coating that resists fingerprints and cleans easily. It’s one way our products help make kitchen maintenance virtually effortless.

#3 Where can I find my model and serial number?

The location of your model / serial number may vary, but it’s most commonly found in one of the following locations:
- Along the interior-side trim of the oven and visible when the door is opened
- On the left-side panel and visible when the door is opened
- On the front frame of the storage / warmer drawer panel and visible when the drawer is opened.

#4 How do I clean stainless steel?

For stainless steel models, we recommend using Frigidaire ReadyClean Stainless Steel cleaner. It provides streak-free shine, protective coating repels dust and dirt, and gently cleans tough stains. Wipe with the grain to prevent scratching. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions when using.

#5 My refrigerator was just installed and my Ice and Water dispenser is not working, how do I fix it?

If your refrigerator was just installed, there a few things to keep in mind regarding your Ice & Water Dispenser.
1. Check to make sure the refrigerator is properly connected to a water supply and that the water supply is turned on.
2. Be sure to prime the water supply system. Air in new plumbing lines can result in an uneven water flow.
3. The dispenser has a built-in device that shuts off the water flow after 3 minutes of continuous use. To reset the shutoff device, simply release the dispenser paddle and then resume if needed.
4. Water from the dispenser is not chilled – it will be room temperature without adding ice to your cup/glass.
5. When dispensing ice, you will hear a snapping or clicking sound when the ice chute opens and closes. This is perfectly normal. When dispensing cubed ice, it is not uncommon to have a small quantity of little pieces along with whole cubes.

#6 When do I need to change my air filter?

In general, you should change the air filter every six months (in most models, the filter status light on your display will prompt you to replace the filter). Replacing the air filter will ensure optimal filtering of refrigerator odors.
You may want to adjust this time period depending on the types and amounts of food you typically store in your refrigerator. To order replacement filters, simply go to our Filter & Parts page. Remember to order the same filter type that is currently in your refrigerator.

#7 What is the best setting for my crisper drawers?

Setting the humidity control on your crisper drawers is not hard but we often forget what the best setting is based on the food type. Here are some helpful tips:
1. Leafy vegetables keep best when stored with the humidity control set on HIGH, or in a drawer without a humidity control. This keeps incoming air to a minimum and maintains maximum moisture.
2. Non-leafy vegetables and fruits still in their skin should be stored with the humidity control set on LOW. It’s best to wash items and remove any excess water before placing in the crisper drawers.
3. Items with strong odors or high moisture content should be wrapped before storing.
4. If you have a refrigerator model with the Auto CrispSealTM Drawer, they are equipped with an auto humidity control on the side of each crisper under the humidity control cover. Good news – no settings needed!

#8 Are the doors on my Top-Freezer refrigerator reversible?

For most Top-Freezer refrigerators, the direction in which your refrigerator doors open (door swing) can be reversed, from left to right or right to left. Door reversal instructions can be found in your Installation guide.
