Frigidaire FGID2479SF Questions and Answers

#1 Can I adjust the rinse aid dosage used during a cycle on my
dishwasher?

Some of our models have a dial that can be adjusted for
the rinse aid dosage while others require you to use your
control pad. Since our models may vary, we recommend
referencing your Owner’s Manual to determine what is
applicable to your dishwasher.

#2 How do I adjust the upper rack of my dishwasher?

Since the adjustability of your racks may vary by model,
we recommend that you first reference your Owner’s
Manual.
However, here are some helpful tips depending on your
dishwasher tub type:
For Plastic Tub Dishwashers -
To raise the upper rack, press the lever on the rack
toward the center of the rack and pull straight up.
To lower the upper rack, press the lever and push down
on the rack. Your Owner’s Manual may have a diagram
for assistance.
For Stainless Tub Dishwashers -
The top rack height can be easily adjusted to
accommodate loading taller dishes.
To raise the rack, lift up until both sides are at the same
height and the rack will secure in place. Ensure the rack
remains level from front to back with both sides at the
same height.
To lower the rack, lift the rack slightly then push down
and release.

#3 How do I know how much detergent to use in my
dishwasher?

The amount of detergent you need to use depends on
whether you have hard or soft water. To determine the
proper amount, follow these tips:
If you are using dishwasher packs or tablets, use only
one at a time.
If you’ve selected a quick or fast cycle, add the
detergent pack or tablet in the tub so it dissolves during
shorter cycles.
For powder, gel and liquid detergents, consult your
Owner’s Manual, which lists the correct amount of
detergent for degree of water conditions.
To determine your water hardness, contact your water
supplier or have your water tested by an outside source
(such as a company that sells water treatment
equipment).
For best results, follow these tips for detergent use:
Make sure the detergent is fresh. When it’s old or
expired, it might not dissolve properly.
Store detergent in a cool, dry place.
When loading the dishwasher, be sure that the detergent
dispenser can open freely (not blocked by a dish/pan,
etc) and that water from the spray arm can reach the
open dispenser.
Because most detergents are designed to dissolve and
activate at 120°F, your dishwasher will perform best if
your water temperature is 120°F or higher at the start of
a wash cycle

#4 How do I set the child lock feature?

To prevent children from accidentally changing the
dishwasher settings or starting the dishwasher, you can
lock the controls.
For Plastic Tub Dishwashers -
Press and hold DELAY START for 3 seconds. An
indicator light on the lock graphic pad will illuminate
when the controls are locked and no new selections can
be made until the lock is released.
To unlock the controls, press DELAY START again for 3
seconds, and the indicator light will go out.
For Stainless Steel Dishwashers -
Press DELAY START until the display window displays
"loc".
To unlock the controls, press DELAY START until "loc" is
no longer displayed in the displaystatus window.

#5 What do I do if my dishwasher is showing a message
code?

The display window of your dishwasher may show the
following activity:
1-24: the number of delay start hours. The last hour will
count down in minutes.
1-199: the number of minutes left in a cycle.
L0-L6: the level of rinse aid dosage on some models.
CL or Close the door: reminds you the door need to be
closed to start the cycle.
LOC: indicates the door is locked.

#6 What should I do if my dishwasher is not starting?

If your dishwasher is not starting, we recommend you
check the following:
Make sure you have not inadvertently set DELAY START
or CHILD LOCK.
Make sure you have pressed START/CANCEL after
selecting your cycles.
Make sure you have closed door immediately to avoid
having to reselect your cycle/options. If you added a
forgotten item or interrupted the cycle, you may need to
press START again for the cycle to resume once you
close the door.
Make sure the dishwasher door is properly closed.
Make sure your water supply is turned on.
