TEMP

Item

Defrosting, heating up, and cooking frozen foods

Take ready-made meals out of their packaging. They will heat up more quickly and evenly if you place them in microwavable dishes. Different parts of the meal may heat up at different rates.

Food that is laid flat heats up quicker than if it is piled high. Therefore, it is best to spread out the food so that it lies flat in the container. You should not place layers of food on top of each other.

Always cover the food. If you do not have a suitable lid for your dish, use a plate or special microwave foil.

You should stir or turn the food two to three times during heating.

Once you have heated up the meals, leave them to stand for another 2 to 5 minutes so that the temperature can stabilize.

The individual taste of the food is retained to a large degree. You can therefore use less salt and spices.

Heating food

Take ready-made meals out of their packaging. They will heat up more quickly and evenly if you place them in microwavable dishes. Different parts of the meal may heat up at different rates.

Liquids, such as water, coffee or tea could be overheated. They can be heated beyond the boiling point without appearing to boil. For example, there is not always visible bubbling or boiling when the container is removed from the microwave oven. THIS COULD RESULT IN VERY HOT LIQUIDS SUDDENLY BOILING OVER WHEN THE CONTAINER IS DISTURBED OR A UTENSIL IS INSERTED INTO THE LIQUID.

WARNING: Heated liquids can erupt if not mixed with air. Do not heat liquids in your microwave oven without first stirring them. When boiling is delayed, the liquid comes to a boil without the customary steam bubbles. Even if the container only vibrates a little, the liquid can boil over a lot or spatter. This can cause injuries and scalding.

Always cover the food. If you do not have a suitable lid for your dish, use a plate or special microwave foil.

You should stir or turn the food several times during heating. Monitor the temperature.

Once you have heated up the meals, leave them to stand for another 2 to 5 minutes so that the temperature can stabilize.

Cooking food

Always cook food in covered dishes. You should stir or turn the food during cooking.

The individual taste of the food is retained to a large degree. You can therefore use less salt and spices.

Food that is laid flat heats up quicker than if it is piled high. Therefore, it is best to spread out the food so that it lies flat in the container. If possible, you should not place layers of food on top of each other.

Once you have cooked the meals, leave them to stand for another 2 to 5 minutes so that the temperature can stabilize.

Fish and seafood

Clean fish before starting the recipe. Arrange fish in a single layer; do not overlap edges. Place thicker pieces towards the outside edge of the dish. Shrimp and scallops should be placed in a single layer.

Place the dish on the turntable. Cover the dish with plastic wrap. Cook on the power level and for the minimum time recommended in the chart. Halfway through cooking, rearrange, stir shrimp or scallops, and turn fish fillets over. Let stand, covered, 5 minutes.

Test for doneness before adding extra cooking time. Fish and seafood should be opaque in color and fish should flake when tested with a fork. If undercooked, return to the oven and continue to cook for 30 - 60 seconds.

Poultry

No special techniques are required:

Poultry should be prepared as with conventional cooking. Season it desired.

Poultry should be thoroughly detrosted. Remove giblets and any metal clamps.

Prick the skin and brush lightly with vegetable oil (unless the poultry is selt-basting).

All poultry should be placed in a microwave-sate dish with lid and placed on the turntable.

Cook according to the instructions in the poultry cooking recommendations below. Turn whole chicken or Cornish hen over haltway through the cooking time. Because ot its shape, poultry has a tendency to cook unevenly, especially in very bony parts. Periodic turning helps to cook these areas evenly.

Let stand tor 5-10 minutes. The standing time is very important, as it completes the cooking process.

Make sure poultry is thoroughly cooked betore eating. Whole poultry is completely cooked when the juices run clear. Pierce with a sharp knite through the thickest part to ensure that the juices are clear and the tlesh is tirm.

Note: The times listed above are only a guide. Allow tor differences in individual tastes and preterences. The times may also vary due to the shape, cut, and composition ot the tood.

It whole poultry is stuffed, the weight ot the stuffed bird should be used when calculating the cooking time.

Directions for cooking fresh vegetables with the microwave

Weights given in the chart tor tresh vegetables are the purchase weight after peeling and trimming. Cut, slice or trim as directed in the chart. Place vegetables in a casserole. Add amount ot water recommended in the chart. Add salt after cooking.

Whole vegetables, such as potatoes, should be pierced with a tork several times betore cooking. Arrange on a microwave-sate dish in the oven. Arrange potatoes in a circular pattern on the dish. Cook potatoes uncovered.

Cover with a lid or plastic wrap. Cook according to the recommended time in the chart.

After cooking, stir vegetables. Let stand, covered, betore serving. Vegetables that are cut into pieces should stand 3 minutes. Whole vegetables should stand 5 minutes.

Directions for cooking rice and cereals

Rice and cereals foam a lot during cooking. Therefore, use a fall dish.

Only rice should be covered during the cooking process.

Let rice stand 5-10 minutes before serving.

Let cereals stand 2 - 5 minutes before serving.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Care and Cleaning of Your Microwave Oven

Before Cleaning

CAUTION: It is important to keep the oven clean and dry. Food residue and condensation may cause rusting or arcing and damage to the oven. After use, wipe dry all surfaces-including vent openings, oven seams, and under Glass Tray.

Unplug oven at wall outlet. If outlet is inaccessible, leave oven door open while cleaning. Make sure parts are cool.

After Cleaning

Be sure to place the Roller Ring and the Glass Tray in the proper position and press Pause/Stop Pad to clear the Display.

Inside of the oven

Wipe with a damp cloth after using. Mild detergent may be used if needed. Do not use harsh detergents or abrasives.

Outside oven surfaces

Clean with a damp cloth. To prevent damage to the operating parts inside the oven, water should not be allowed to seep into ventilation openings.

Steam will be given off cooking food and collect on the oven walls and door. During conditions of high humidity, steam may occur on the outside of the oven and in no way indicates a malfunction. Wipe dry with a soft cloth.

Oven Door

Wipe with a soft dry cloth when steam accumulates inside or around the outside of the oven door. During cooking, especially under high humidity conditions, steam is given off from the food. (Some steam will condense on cooler surfaces, such as the oven door. This is normal). Inside surface is covered with a heat and vapor barrier film. Do not remove.

Glass Tray

Remove and wash in warm soapy water or in a dishwasher.

Control Panel

Covered with a removable protective film to prevent scratches during shipping. Small bubbles may appear under this film. (Hint - To remove film, apply masking or clear tape to an exposed corner and pull gently.)

If the Control Panel becomes wet, clean it with a soft dry cloth. Do not use harsh detergents or abrasives.

When cleaning the Control Panel, leave the oven door open to prevent the oven from accidentally turning on. After cleaning, press Pause/Stop Pad to return to time-of-day.

Roller Ring and oven cavity floor

Clean the bottom surface of the oven with mild detergent water or window cleaner, and dry. Roller Ring may be washed in mild soapy water of dishwasher. These areas should be kept clean to avoid execssive noise.

CAUTION: Do not remove waveguide cover.
It is important to keep cover clean in the same manner as the inside of the oven.

Before Requesting Service :

These things are normal

The oven causes interference with my TV.

  • Some radio and TV interference might occur when you cook with the microwave oven. This interference is similar to the interference caused by small appliances such as mixers, vacuums, blow dryers, etc. It does not indicate a problem with your oven.

Steam accumulates on the oven door and warm air comes from the oven vents.

  • During cooking, steam and warm air are given off from the food. Most of the steam and warm air are removed from the oven by the air which circulates in the oven cavity. However, some steam will condense on cooler surfaces such as the oven door. This is normal. After use, the oven should be wiped dry.
