Frigidaire FFET1222QS Questions and Answers

#1 Can I adjust the shelves and/or door bins in my Top-Freezer
refrigerator to fit my spacing needs?

You may need to adjust your shelves or door bins for
spacing needs or simple care and cleaning.
Before adjusting the shelves and/or door bins, remove
all the food items.
Remove the shelf by pulling forward to the stop position
using 2 hands to avoid dropping.
Lift the front edge up and pull it out to replace the shelf.
Next, rest the side edges on any pair of shelf rails and
carefully push shelf back into position. Some Top-
Freezer refrigerator models have door bins (or racks) to
accommodate taller or larger items. Before removing
door bins (or racks) remove all the food items.
Push on the bin (or rack) sides to release from the
locking tabs.
Then, pull straight out to install the door bin (or rack)
simply push straight ahead. You may hear the sides lock
into the tabs. When cleaning shelves and/or door bins,
allow any glass components to warm to room
temperature before immersing in warm water to prevent
damage. Simply use warm, soapy water or glass
cleaner.

#2 How do I know which water filter I need for my refrigerator?

When it comes to your water filter, compatible isn’t
comparable. Frigidaire Genuine filters offer 3 levels of
carbon filtration that trap sediment, chemicals, and
harmful impurities. Frigidaire filters are NSF certified,
the gold standard in water filtration.
Compatible or look-alike filters aren’t guaranteed to
offer the same water quality. It’s always important to
use the same filter type that is currently in your
refrigerator.
Most Owner’s Manuals will provide you the water filter
information specific to your model. You can also visit
Filter & Parts and go to “Find Your Water Filter”

#3 How often should I change my water filter?

In general, you should change your water filter every six
months to ensure the highest possible water quality.
On most models, the Water Filter Status on your display
will illuminate and prompt you when it’s time to replace
the filter. If your refrigerator has not been used for a
period of time (during moving for example), it is
recommended to change the filter before reinstalling the
refrigerator.
To order replacement filters, simply go to our Filter &
Parts page. Remember to order the same filter type that
is currently in your refrigerator.

#4 How do I clean the various components of my refrigerator?

Care and cleaning tips can be found in your Owner’s
Manual.
However, most of your refrigerator can simply be
cleaned using soap, water and a soft cloth.
Specifically for interior and door liners, you can also use
2 tablespoons of baking soda in 1 quart of warm water.
Be sure to wring excess water out of the sponge or cloth
before cleaning around controls, light bulb or any
electrical part.
When cleaning the exterior part of your refrigerator
including door handles, it is not recommended to use
cleaners containing ammonia, bleach or alcohol as they
can damage the finish.
For stainless steel models, we recommend using
Frigidaire ReadyClean Stainless Steel cleaner. It
provides streak-free shine, protective coating repels
dust and dirt, and gently cleans tough stains. Wipe with
the grain to prevent scratching. Always follow the
manufacturer’s instructions when using.

#6 What should I do if my ice maker is not making enough ice
in my refrigerator?

If your ice maker is not making enough ice, here are few
things to be aware of.
The ice maker should produce 2 to 3 pounds of ice per
24 hours, depending on usage.
The ice bin should hold about 4 pounds of ice. If this is
not happening, the water filter may be clogged or
overdue for replacement.
If water is dispensing slowly or not at all, or your water
filter is older than 6 months, it’s time to replace.
If the water supply line is not kinked, this sometimes
can happen if the refrigerator is pushed too far against
the wall.
Heavy traffic, opening or closing the refrigerator doors
excessively can slow down ice production.
Some models are equipped with Quick Freeze feature –
just press Quick Freeze on your display to temporarily
increase the ice production rate.
If your refrigerator is not properly making ice, the freezer
temperature could be set too warm. Set the freezer
control to a colder setting to improve ice production.
Allow 24 hours for the temperature to stabilize.

#7 What is the best setting for my crisper drawers?

Setting the humidity control on your crisper drawers is
not hard but we often forget what the best setting is
based on the food type. Here are some helpful tips:
Leafy vegetables keep best when stored with the
humidity control set on HIGH, or in a drawer without a
humidity control. This keeps incoming air to a minimum
and maintains maximum moisture.
Non-leafy vegetables and fruits still in their skin should
be stored with the humidity control set on LOW. It’s best
to wash items and remove any excess water before
placing in the crisper drawers.
Items with strong odors or high moisture content should
be wrapped before storing.
If you have a refrigerator model with the Auto
CrispSealTM Drawer, they are equipped with an auto
humidity control on the side of each crisper under the
humidity control cover. Good news – no settings
needed!
