GE - General Electric JGB285DET1BB Questions and Answers

#1 Is the upper oven vent too hot?
When the oven is on, the upper oven vent sends out air that is hot enough to melt butter in a pan at the back of the cook top. Is this normal?

All of our cooking products meet UL (Underwriters' Laboratories) safety standards.

Underwriters' Laboratories have evaluated external temperatures for ranges and have communicated the acceptable external temperatures for a range product (including glass doors). When baking or broiling in the oven you will definitely notice the heat and steam escaping from the back vents. This is considered normal and it will be very hot.

Be sure to never block the vents (air openings) of the range. They provide the air inlet and outlet that are necessary for the range to operate properly with correct combustion. Air openings are located at the rear of the cooktop, at the top and bottom of the oven door, and at the bottom of the range.

Thanks so much for your question.
