  • Questions unAnswered : 1

#1 Why are NBCUniversal’s TV Everywhere channels missing
from my Philips Roku Television?

Comcast (who own NBCUniversal) and Roku are in a a
licensing dispute regarding the new Peacock service.
As a result, Comcast has decided to require Roku to
delete these channels as early as this weekend,
9/19/20-9/20/20.
Fortunately, Philips Roku TV customers can still access
NBCUniversal’s channels in various ways on Philips
Roku TV's.
Existing Xfinity, Charter, or AT&T TV customers can
stream NBCUniversal’s channels on the Xfinity Stream,
Spectrum TV and AT&T TV channels available in the
Roku Channel Store. You can also watch NBCUniversal’s
networks through other Live TV providers such as AT&T
TV Now, FuboTV, Hulu + Live TV, Sling TV, and YouTube
TV, many of which offer free trials. Comcast’s
decision does not affect access to the Xfinity Stream
app.

#2 What is a government repackaging OTA Initiative?

The U.S. government is auctioning off different
spectrums of local airwaves which is triggering a
“repack” of the spectrum in the coming months in
various markets. This means that channels are being
moved and consolidated into specific bands of
spectrum so that large blocks of the spectrum can then
be auctioned off for other data providers to use. In
reality, some markets will have stations “repacked”
several times. What this means is that if you are utilizing
“off the air” channels, you simply need to rescan your TV
channels to avoid losing stations that move to a new
frequency. Note that this process will NOT affect you if
you have a cable or satellite box connected to your
television.

#3 What is the status of AT&T Now on Roku TV?

The availability of any given application on the Roku
platform is governed by Roku and the agreements they
have with the application providers.
Unfortunately, Roku's contract with AT&T for the
distribution of AT&T TV NOW on the Roku platform
expired on 12/31/19. AT&T TV NOW will no longer be
available in the Roku Channel Store.
Customers who have signed up and downloaded it from
the Roku Channel Store prior to 12/31/19 will continue
to have access to the channel. Customers who have not
downloaded the channel by 12/31/19 will not be able to
add or discover the channel.
It is possible that the channel may go away sometime in
the weeks following with ample notice to customers. At
that time AT&T TV NOW will not be available on the
platform. If a customer attempts to launch the channel,
they will receive a message that this channel is no
longer available.
Roku’s contract with AT&T for the distribution of AT&T
TV NOW expired so it is no longer available to download
from the Roku Channel Store.
If you have already downloaded the AT&T NOW TV
channel, you can continue using it for now.
The Roku Platform has 10,000+ channels available and
offers many alternative live TV services for you to enjoy,
including Sling TV, Hulu + Live TV, Fubo, and Philo. Many
of these live TV streaming services offer free trials and
are available in the Roku Channel Store.

#4 Is there a charge to setup or register my Philips Roku TV?

No. There is no charge to setup and register any Roku
device, including your Philips TV. However, fraudulent
websites do exist that may try to charge you. Please see
the article here on the Roku support site for more
information, including what to do if you have paid
money to a fraudulent website

#5 How do I rescan for local channels?

Please refer to your televisions user manual. This
process is easy to perform; however, it may take some
time as the TV will scan all possible frequencies to find
available channels. The section of the user manual will
specifically mention installing and/or searching for
channels.
This process may vary depending on your model, but
see below for the sequence of steps involved.
When complete you will see a list of channels installed
and available in your area.
