The factory-installed riser simply raises the washer 7" to allow you to comfortably load and unload clothes and minimize strenuous bends and long reaches, and use the top as a folding surface. It is not a drawer.

You can do either one!

We recommend putting it into the external loader if you are using PreWash or Presoak. Prewash is an extra wash before the main wash for heavily soiled clothes. Presoak begins with a brief tumble and then proceeds to soak the clothes for a period of time. If you use the Prewash compartment in your dispenser, you need to choose one of these options.

If you use the powder as a laundry detergent booster, you can put it in with the clothes if you prefer.

This washer has a 4.8 capacity tub. Pounds (lbs) are no longer used as a rating system for washer capacity. There was no industry standard that would allow exact comparisons.
A washer is not limited in practical terms by the pounds or weight of clothes it can wash. It is limited by the volume of clothes that can be put in the machine. Ex. A down comforter can fill the entire machine but weigh very little, while blue jeans are heavy but is typically a smaller load.
