    • Before you move your refrigerator into its final location, it is important to make sure you have the proper electrical connection:4

    • A 115 Volt 60 Hz. (Plug 1), 220/240 Volt 50 Hz. (Plugs 2 or 3), or 220 Volt 60 Hz. (Plug 3) AC only 10-amp fused and grounded (earthed) electrical supply is required.4
    • It is recommended that a separate circuit serving only your refrigerator be provided. Use an outlet that cannot be turned off by a switch or pull chain. Do not use an extension cord.4

  • Gather the required tools and parts and read all instructions before starting installation.5
  • NOTE: Before moving your product into your home, measure the doorway of your home to see whether you need to remove the refrigerator and freezer doors. If door removal is necessary, see the instructions below.5
  • IMPORTANT: Before you begin, turn the refrigerator control OFF. Unplug refrigerator or disconnect power. Remove food and any adjustable door or utility bins from doors.5
  • TOOLS NEEDED: Bubble level; flat-blade screwdriver; B\zn" wrench; Z\v", Z\x", and B\zn" hex-head socket wrenches5
    • Remove the Doors6
      • 1. Unplug refrigerator or disconnect power.6
  • 2. Open both refrigerator doors. Remove the base grille by pulling up on the bottom outside corners. See Graphic 1.6
  • 3. If you have a dispenser (ice or water), disconnect the water dispenser tubing located behind the base grille on the freezer door side. See Graphic 2.6
  • 4. Close both doors and keep them closed until you are ready to lift them free from the cabinet.6
  • 5. Use a B\zn" hex-head socket wrench to remove the top left hinge screw and cover as shown. See Graphic 3.6
  • 6. Disconnect wiring plug, and remove ground wire screw to disconnect ground wires. See Graphic 3.6
  • 7. Remove remaining left hinge screws and hinge as shown. See Graphic 3.6
  • 8. Lift freezer door straight up off bottom hinge. See Graphic 4. The water dispenser tubing remains attached to the freezer door and pulls through the bottom left hinge. Be sure to avoid damaging the dispenser tubing.6
  • 9. Remove top right hinge cover and screws as shown. See Graphic 5.6
  • 10. Lift the refrigerator door straight up off bottom hinge.6
  • 11. It may not be necessary to remove the bottom hinges to move the refrigerator through a doorway. Both bottom hinges have similar construction.6
    • Replace the Doors and Hinges6
      • 1. Replace both bottom hinges, if removed. Make sure the shim is between the hinge and cabinet. Tighten screws.6
  • 2. Assistance may be needed to feed the water dispenser tubing through the bottom hinge while reinstalling the freezer door. Feed the dispenser tubing through the bottom left hinge before replacing the door on the hinge.6
    • NOTE: Provide additional support for the doors while the top hinges are being replaced. Do not depend on the door magnets to hold the doors in place while you are working.6
  • 3. Reconnect water dispenser tubing by pushing tubing into fitting until it stops and black mark touches face of fitting. See Graphic 2. On some models, replace tubing in hose clip.6
  • 4. Align and replace the top left hinge as shown. See Graphic 3. Tighten screws.6
  • 5. Reconnect both ground wires, and reconnect wiring plug. See Graphic 3.6
  • 6. Replace left hinge cover and screws. See Graphic 3.6
  • 7. Replace the refrigerator door by lifting the door onto the bottom right hinge.6
  • 8. Align and replace the top right hinge as shown. See Graphic 5. Tighten screws.6
  • 9. Replace hinge cover and screws. Tighten screws.6
  • 10. Plug into a grounded 3 prong outlet or reconnect power.6
    • Leveling and Door Closing6
    • Your refrigerator has two front adjustable rollers - one on the right and one on the left. If your refrigerator seems unsteady or if you want the doors to close more easily, adjust the refrigerator's tilt using the instructions below:6
      • 1. Move the refrigerator into its final location.6
  • 2. The two leveling screws are part of the front roller assemblies which are at the base of the refrigerator on either side. See Graphic 7.6
    • NOTE: Having someone push against the top of the refrigerator takes some weight off the leveling screws and rollers. This makes it easier to adjust the screws.6
  • 3. Use a Z\x" hex-head wrench to adjust the leveling screws. Turn the leveling screw to the right to raise that side of the refrigerator or turn the leveling screw to the left to lower that side. It may take several turns of the leveling scre...6
  • 4. Open both doors again and check that they close as easily as you like. If not, tilt the refrigerator slightly more to the rear by turning both leveling screws to the right. It may take several more turns, and you should turn both leveling ...6
  • 5. Use a bubble level to check the leveling of the refrigerator.6
    • Door Alignment6
    • A refrigerator that is not level from side-to-side may appear to have doors that are not properly aligned. If the doors appear this way, use the instructions in the previous section to check the leveling.6
    • The doors are designed to be slightly different heights when the refrigerator is empty, in order to account for the weight of food that will be placed on the doors. If the doors are still not aligned after checking the leveling and loading th...6
      • 1. Locate the alignment screw on the bottom hinge of the refrigerator door. See Graphic 8.7
  • 2. Use a B\zn" wrench to turn the screw. To raise the refrigerator door, turn the screw to the right. To lower the door, turn the screw to the left.7
  • 3. Check that the doors are even at the top and bottom. If necessary, continue to turn the alignment screw until the doors are aligned.7
  • 4. Replace the base grille.7
    • NOTE: Be sure to refasten the Tech Sheet behind the base grille.7
  • Water Supply Requirements7
    • Gather the required tools and parts before starting installation. Read and follow the instructions provided with any tools listed here.7
      • Water Pressure7
    • A cold water supply with water pressure of between 30 and 120 psi (207 and 827 kPa) is required to operate the water dispenser and ice maker. If you have questions about your water pressure, call a licensed, qualified plumber.7
      • Reverse Osmosis Water Supply7
    • Important: The pressure of the water supply coming out of a reverse osmosis system going to the water inlet valve of the refrigerator needs to be between 30 and 120 psi (207 and 827 kPa).7
    • If a reverse osmosis water filtration system is connected to your cold water supply, the water pressure to the reverse osmosis system needs to be a minimum of 40 to 60 psi (276 to 414 kPa).7
    • If the water pressure to the reverse osmosis system is less than 40 to 60 psi (276 to 414 kPa):7
    • If you have questions about your water pressure, call a licensed, qualified plumber.7
  • Connect Water Supply7
    • Read all directions before you begin.7
    • IMPORTANT: If you turn the refrigerator on before the water line is connected, turn the ice maker OFF.7

        • 1. Unplug refrigerator or disconnect power.7
    • 2. Turn OFF main water supply. Turn ON nearest faucet long enough to clear line of water.7
    • 3. Locate a Z\x" (1.27 cm) to 1Z\v" (3.18 cm) vertical cold water pipe near the refrigerator.7
    • 4. Determine the length of copper tubing you need. Measure from the connection on the lower rear corner of refrigerator to the water pipe. Add 7 ft (2.1 m) to allow for cleaning. Use Z\v" (6.35 mm) O.D. (outside diameter) copper tubing. Be su...7
    • 5. Using a cordless drill, drill a Z\v" (6.35 mm) hole in the cold water pipe you have selected.7
    • 6. Fasten the shutoff valve to the cold water pipe with the pipe clamp. Be sure the outlet end is solidly in the Z\v" (6.35 mm) drilled hole in the water pipe and that the washer is under the pipe clamp. Tighten the packing nut. Tighten the p...7
    • 7. Slip the compression sleeve and compression nut on the copper tubing as shown. Insert the end of the tubing into the outlet end squarely as far as it will go. Screw the compression nut onto outlet end with adjustable wrench. Do not overtighten.7
    • 8. Place the free end of the tubing in a container or sink, and turn ON the main water supply. Flush the tubing until water is clear. Turn OFF the shutoff valve on the water pipe. Coil the copper tubing.7

        • 1. Contact your dealer for proper installation.7
    • 2. Unplug refrigerator or disconnect power.7
    • 3. Connect the supplied hose to a potable water supply.7

    • 2. Remove and discard the plastic part that is attached to the inlet of the water valve.8
    • 3. Attach the copper tube to the valve inlet using a compression nut and sleeve as shown. Tighten the compression nut. Do not overtighten.8
    • 4. Use the tube clamp on the back of the refrigerator to secure the tubing to the refrigerator as shown. This will help avoid damage to the tubing when the refrigerator is pushed back against the wall.8
    • 5. Turn shutoff valve ON.8
    • 6. Check for leaks. Tighten any connections (including connections at the valve) or nuts that leak.8
    • 7. The ice maker is equipped with a built-in water strainer. If your water conditions require a second water strainer, install it in the Z\v" (6.35 mm) water line at either tube connection. Obtain a water strainer from your nearest appliance dealer.8

    • 2. Remove and discard the black nylon plug from the gray water tube on the rear of the refrigerator.8

    • Set the control to one of the three MEAT settings to store meat at its optimal storage temperature.9

    • You can control the amount of humidity in the moisture-sealed crisper. Adjust the control to any setting between LOW and HIGH.9
    • LOW (open) for best storage of fruits and vegetables with skins.9

  • Water and Ice Dispensers10

    • Depending on your model, you may have one or more of the following options: the ability to select either crushed or cubed ice, a special light that turns on when you use the dispenser, or a lock option to avoid unintentional dispensing.10
    • IMPORTANT: After connecting the refrigerator to a water source or replacing the water filter, flush the water system. Use a sturdy container to depress and hold the water dispenser lever for 5 seconds, then release it for 5 seconds. Repeat un...10

    • IMPORTANT: Dispense at least 1 qt (1 L) of water every week to maintain a fresh supply.10
      • To Dispense Water:10
        • 1. Press a sturdy glass against the water dispenser lever.10
    • 2. Remove the glass to stop dispensing.10
      • IMPORTANT: Limit water dispensing time to a maximum of 2 minutes at a time.10

      • Ice dispenses from the ice maker storage bin in the freezer when the dispenser lever is pressed.10
      • NOTE: Some models dispense both cubed and crushed ice. Before dispensing ice, select which type of ice you prefer.10
      • For crushed ice, cubes are crushed before being dispensed. This may cause a slight delay when dispensing crushed ice. Noise from the ice crusher is normal, and pieces of ice may vary in size. When changing from crushed to cubed, a few ounces ...10
        • To Dispense Ice:10
          • 1. Press the button to select the desired type of ice.10
    • 2. Press a sturdy glass against the ice dispenser lever. Hold the glass close to the dispenser opening so ice does not fall outside of the glass.10
    • 3. Remove the glass to stop dispensing.10
      • IMPORTANT: Limit ice dispensing time to a maximum of 2 minutes at a time.10
        • The Dispenser Light10

      • The dispenser light can be turned on by pressing the ON button.10

      • When you use the dispenser, the lever will automatically turn the light on. If you want the light to be on continuously, you may choose either ON or NIGHT LIGHT.10
      • ON: Press the LIGHT button to turn on the dispenser light.10
      • NIGHT LIGHT: Press the LIGHT button a second time to select the Night Light. The dispenser light will automatically adjust to become brighter as the room brightens, and dimmer as the room darkens.10
      • OFF: Press the LIGHT button a third time to turn off the dispenser light.10
      • The dispenser lights are LEDs which should not need to be changed. If it appears that your dispenser lights are not working, be sure that the light sensor is not blocked (in Night Light mode). See “Troubleshooting” for more information.10
        • The Dispenser Lock (on some models)10
      • The dispenser can be turned off for easy cleaning or to avoid unintentional dispensing by small children and pets.10
      • NOTE: The lock feature does not shut off power to the product, to the ice maker, or to the dispenser light. It simply deactivates the dispenser levers. The ice and water dispensers will not work.10
      • Style 1: Press the LOCK button to lock the dispenser. Press the UNLOCK button to unlock the dispenser.10
      • Style 2: Press and hold the LOCK OUT button to lock the dispenser. Press and hold the LOCK OUT button a second time to unlock the dispenser.10

    • The On/Off switch is located on the top right-hand side of the freezer compartment.11
    • NOTE: Your ice maker has an automatic shutoff. The ice maker sensors will automatically stop ice production, but the control will remain in the ON (left) position.11
      • Removing and Replacing Ice Storage Bin:11
        • 1. Hold the base of the storage bin with both hands and press the release button to lift the storage bin up and out.11
    • 2. Replace the storage bin on the door and push down to make sure it is securely in place.11

      • Turning the Ice Maker On/Off:11
      • NOTE: Your ice maker has an automatic shutoff. As ice is made, the ice cubes will fill the ice storage bin, and the ice cubes will raise the wire shutoff arm to the OFF (arm up) position. Do not force the wire shutoff arm up or down.11
        • Removing and Replacing Ice Storage Bin:11
          • 1. Pull the covering panel up from the bottom and then slide it back toward the rear.11
    • 2. Lift the wire shutoff arm so it clicks into the OFF (up) position.11
    • 3. Lift up the front of the storage bin and pull it out.11
    • 4. Replace the bin by pushing it in all the way or the dispenser will not work.11
    • 5. To restart ice production, push the wire shutoff arm down to the ON position. Make sure the door is closed tightly.11
  • Water Filtration System11
    • Water Filter Status Light (on some models)11
    • The water filter status light will help you know when to change your water filter.11
    • The filter should be replaced at least every 6 months depending on your water quality and usage.11
    • After changing the water filter, reset the water filter status light.11
    • Style 1: Press the light switch 5 times within 10 seconds. The status light will change from red to green.11
    • Style 2: Press and hold the water filter reset button until the status light turns green. Your reset button may be located on the water dispenser or on the control panel in the refrigerator compartment.11
      • Non-Indicator Water Filter (on some models)11
    • If your refrigerator does not have the water filter status light, you should change the water filter cartridge at least every 6 months depending on your water quality and usage. If the water flow to the water dispenser or ice maker decreases ...11
      • Using the Dispenser Without the Water Filter11
    • You can run the dispenser without a water filter. Your water will not be filtered.11
      • 1. Remove the water filter.11
    • 2. Slide the cap off the end of the filter and replace the cap in the base grille.11
      • Refrigerator Care12
  • Cleaning12
    • Both the refrigerator and freezer sections defrost automatically. However, clean both sections about once a month to avoid buildup of odors. Wipe up spills immediately.12
    • IMPORTANT: Because air circulates between both sections, any odors formed in one section will transfer to the other. You must thoroughly clean both sections to eliminate odors. To avoid odor transfer and drying out of food, wrap or cover foods tightly.12

    • 2. Hand wash, rinse, and dry removable parts and interior surfaces thoroughly. Use a clean sponge or soft cloth and a mild detergent in warm water.12

    • 4. There is no need for routine condenser cleaning in normal home operating environments. If the environment is particularly greasy or dusty, or there is significant pet traffic in the home, the condenser should be cleaned every 2 to 3 months...12

  • Changing the Light Bulbs12
    • NOTE: Not all bulbs will fit your refrigerator. Be sure to replace the bulb with one of the same size, shape and wattage.12

    • 3. Remove light bulb and replace with one of the same size, shape and wattage.12

    • If the power will be out for 24 hours or less, keep the door or doors closed (depending on your model) to help food stay cold and frozen.12

    • REMEMBER: A full freezer stays cold longer than a partially filled one. A freezer full of meat stays cold longer than a freezer full of baked goods. If you see that food contains ice crystals, it may be refrozen, although the quality and flav...12

      • 1. Use up any perishables and freeze other items.12
    • 2. If your refrigerator has an automatic ice maker:12
    • 3. Empty the ice bin.12

    • 5. Tape rubber or wood blocks to the tops of both doors to prop them open far enough for air to get in. This stops odor and mold from building up. Take care not to damage the door seal with the blocks.13

      • When you are moving your refrigerator to a new home, follow these steps to prepare it for the move.13
        • 1. If your refrigerator has an automatic ice maker:13
    • 2. Remove all food from the refrigerator and pack all frozen food in dry ice.13
    • 3. Turn the Refrigerator or Freezer Control (or Thermostat Control, depending on the model) to OFF. See “Using the Controls.”13
    • 4. Unplug the refrigerator.13
    • 5. Empty water from the defrost pan located behind the base grille.13
    • 6. Clean the refrigerator, wipe it down, and dry thoroughly.13
    • 7. Take out all removable parts, wrap them well, and tape them together so they don’t shift and rattle during the move.13
    • 8. For models with leveling legs, adjust the rollers to raise the front of the refrigerator so it rolls more easily. See “Refrigerator Doors” or “Adjust the Doors.”13
    • 9. Tape the doors shut and tape the power cord to the refrigerator cabinet.13
      • When you get to your new home, put everything back and refer to “Installation Instructions” for preparation instructions. Also, if your refrigerator has an automatic ice maker, remember to reconnect the water supply to the refrigerator.13

  • The refrigerator will not operate13
  • The motor seems to run too much13
  • Your new refrigerator may run longer than your old one due to its high-efficiency compressor and fans. The refrigerator may run even longer if the room is warm, a large food load is added, doors are opened often, or if the doors have been left open.13
    • The refrigerator is noisy13
  • Refrigerator noise has been reduced over the years. Due to this reduction, you may hear intermittent noises from your new refrigerator that you did not notice from your old model. Below are listed some normal sounds with an explanation.13
    • The doors will not close completely13
